Mine Detection Symposium 2017 | Expansion on Explosive Detection Sensor Technology for Unmanned Aerial Systems
Mine action is at a critical junction in its evolution. While Mine Action is currently facing a dramatic increase in victims and yet a downward trend in funding, its main actors are facing rapidly changing working contexts. New and protracted conflicts, urban and rural areas with mixed contamination, including improvised explosive devices, as well as challenging security situations are calling for enhanced methods of action. Combining various sets of knowledge and experience will be key to providing holistic, adequate and effective responses.
This Symposium is jointly organized by the GICHD and the Urs Endress Foundation.

This symposium calls on partners that are willing to share and contribute towards development of technology that can meet the challenging environment today to alleviate human suffering across the globe. Mine action partners (operators, researchers, developers and other stakeholders) are welcomed to contribute and participate during this two-day symposium.

CALL FOR PRESENTERS
As a presenter, your responsibility is to speak about a topic that educates and challenges your audience. While the platform is not to be used as a vehicle to promote your own business, service, interests, or products, your job is to share your knowledge. The expertise you speak to can create an understanding about your subject and enrich professional lives by providing relevant and applicable knowledge and “take-home value” for each person attending the MDS.
Presenters will receive guidelines on how to deliver material upon acceptance as a presenter. Upon registering for the symposium, you will receive an invitation to present. To be able to review and prepare your presentation material in advance the MDS team would like you to submit your material no later than 1 September 2017 including an abstract based on your speaker notes and PowerPoint presentation.

There is no participation cost for this symposium. Participants are responsible for their own transportation/hotel costs. Venue and refreshments will be covered by the organizers.
