Global Technical Survey Course
Technical Survey (TS) is a crucial step in the Land Release process for identifying,confirming and improving definitions of the boundaries of hazardous areas and the nature and distribution of their contents. Information gathered by the TS significantly helps with decision making and subsequent use of appropriate tools and resources, contributing directly to increased operational cost efficiency and effectiveness. This course will strive to provide clear definitions and guidance on what is considered a good practice and what is recommended by the International Mine Action Standards. The course will also provide a platform for participants from various operational contexts to come together and share experiences.
This training course will be held at the NPA Global Training Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where participants will have the opportunity to gain theoretical knowledge and will also be exposed to practical demonstrations and exercises. Students who pass the final exam successfully will be awarded a certificate of completion.
Completion of the GICHD “Introduction to Gender and Diversity in Mine Action” online course is a requirement for attending the TS course. Please follow the link to access this course.
Upon successful completion participants will be awarded a certificate of completion.
This course is being delivered as a partnership between GICHD and NPA.

Student Arrival to Sarajevo: Sunday September 25th, 2022
First Day of Training: Monday September 26th, 2022.
Last Day of Training and end of course dinner: Friday September 30th, 2022.
Departure: Saturday October 1st, 2022.

The course is aimed at students who are field staff or manage field staff within an operator organization or national authority in the programme that utilizes the land release process. Course is open to participants from humanitarian mine action organisations, government authority and commercial operator organisations that are working in the field of humanitarian mine action.The course will be conducted in English. Good working knowledge of English is therefore a requirement.

Participants are responsible for monitoring the host country's Covid-19 rules and regulations as well as the necessary entry requirements. Participants are also required to comply with the country's and the training center's health and sanitary regulations. The GICHD and NPA do not cover health care expenses or any expenses related to Covid-19, including quarantine/isolation. All participants are themselves responsible for obtaining adequate insurance (health, accident and liability) and covering any additional costs that might arise as a result of Covid-19 (such as PCR and antigen tests, hotel costs for quarantine, flight change etc..).
If you are selected to participate in the course, we would appreciate if you could inform us before 31st of August 2022 of any allergies or special dietary requirements (Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal, Kosher, etc.) that you may have. We will inform the training centre about your particular food request and try to accommodate it as best as possible.

GICHD will be covering the cost of the course, except transportation costs. This includes accommodation, meals, coffee breaks, classroom materials and transfer to and from Sarajevo airport.
However, there is a limited number of subsidies for transportation costs, if you wish to be considered for sponsorship, please send a request to Kinda Samra: k.samra@gichd.org not later than July 20th, 2022.

- Field clothing including boots, hat and water bottle.
- You can bring your own GPS and/or compass if you wish to do so
- Laptop (recommended but not mandatory)
