The GICHD is happy to announce that it will be holding a Mine Action Information Management Qualification at IMSMA Core Administrator in Switzerland which will be supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS).
The training will be based on IMSMA Core. Training language will be English.

This training course will familiarise the participants with information management principles and concepts, the role of information management in mine action, as well as with the latest concepts of the Land Release IMAS. In addition, the IMSMA Core environment will be presented and participants will learn how to manage users and permissions, content and groups.
Furthermore, participants will learn how to configure the system according to their organisation's needs, through designing forms for data entry, creating maps and apps for data visualisation and validation, and configuring dashboards for reporting purposes.
Data management processes within the IMSMA Core environment will also be addressed.
Applicants for this course are welcome from all Mine Action Programmes and operators. Applicants should have strong technical database skills and team or project management skills.

The selection process (to a maximum of 12 participants) will be completed over the following few weeks and will prioritise applicants from National Mine Action Programmes and their Operating Partners who are or will be posted to Information Management positions within their respective organisations.
Candidates who are not selected are encouraged to consult our calendar of events in order to apply for subsequent training courses.
Participants are responsible for monitoring the host country's Covid-19 rules and regulations as well as the necessary entry requirements. Participants are also required to comply with the country's and the training center's health and sanitary regulations.
The GICHD will not cover health care expenses or any expenses related to Covid-19, including quarantine/isolation. All participants are themselves responsible for obtaining adequate insurance (health, accident and liability) and covering any additional costs that might arise as a result of Covid-19 (such as PCR and antigen tests, hotel costs for quarantine, flight change etc..).
The course, training materials (excluding laptop computers), accommodation, internet and all meals are provided free of charge for all training participants.
Travel costs (tickets, transit accommodation and subsistence) from country of origin to Spiez, Switzerland is to be covered by each respective organisation. It is recommended that all participants schedule an arrival in Spiez, Switzerland no later than Sunday, 05 December 2021. Limited sponsorship for travel expenses is available from the GICHD. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
All participants are responsible to have adequate travel and health insurance for the whole duration of their stay in Switzerland.

You should not be required to have full administrative rights, but if possible having administrative rights on your laptop would be preferred. Neither GICHD nor the venue can provide you with a training laptop so please do ensure that you will have the necessary equipment.
