ELearning Module One "Introduction to GIS for Mine Action"
The GICHD is happy to announce that it will be holding an eLearning course on “Introduction to GIS for Mine Action”, which is supported by the Swiss Government
Mine action is inherently geographic, and GIS allows information managers to visualise and analyse data to help solve spatial problems and make smarter decisions. In this course, learn the fundamental components and capabilities of GIS and discover how ArcGIS can improve the quality of the information in mine action workflows.
The training will be a fundamental e-learning knowledge based on IMSMA Core. The training language will be in English.

- Understand concepts fundamental to GIS use for mine action.
- Explain how ArcGIS enables GICHD Mine action Programmes to improve the quality of information for mine action.
- Identify the GIS capabilities in mine action.
- Describe the ArcGIS System and core products.
- Link the geographic information system component for mine action use.
00Program and Method
Duration: The 1st module will take 3h30.
It is an e-learning online training module that participants can follow at their own pace. Each participant will have one week to complete the module and will get awarded a certificate if a score of at least 75% on the final test is achieved.

This e-learning course is intended for participants from National Mine Action Programmes and their Operating Partners who are or will be posted to senior Information Management positions within their respective organisations
Applicants for this course are welcome from all Mine Action Programmes and operators working with IMSMA. Applicants should have some technical IM knowledge.
The GICHD is committed to diverse and open participation in our training and workshops.

The selection process will be completed over the following few weeks and will prioritise applicants from National Mine Action Programmes and their Operating Partners who are or will be posted to Information Management positions within their respective organisations.
We will have a maximum of 12 participants per quarter.
