Mine Action Information Management Qualification (MIQ) at Administrator Level 1
The GICHD is happy to announce that it will be holding a "Mine Action Information Management Qualification (MIQ) at Administrator Level 1" in Bamako, Mali, in collaboration with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS). The training will be based on IMSMA NG6. Training language will be French.

00Objective
During the training, the participants will learn:
- On a managerial level, to acquire knowledge on IM principles and concepts, to understand the importance of identifying information requirements prior to designing Data Entry forms and to gain awareness of the need to communicate and coordinate with strategic and operational personnel within their respective organisations.
- On a technical level, to learn how to install, use and administer IMSMA NG6 and to customize IMSMA according to the programmes’ needs and in coordination with operations and programme management.
00Program and Method
The participants will be familiarised with Information Management principles and concepts, the role of Information Management in Mine Action, as well as with the latest concepts of the Land Release IMAS. In addition, the IMSMA data model and its user interface will be presented and participants will learn all IMSMA functionalities, including installation, configuration, customization, data entry and import/export. Participants will also be introduced to different search functions in IMSMA. Further, the programme includes an overview of the new enhancements available with version 6, as well as a session on the online IMSMA documentation IMSMA Wiki and the staging area.
The participants will also exchange good practices and examples by sharing experiences from different Mine Action Programmes. The training ends with an exam that covers both the technical and managerial aspects of the programme. The participants will be requested to draft a work plan that will help them implement what they have learnt during the training.
00Participants
Applicants for this course are welcome from french speaking Mine Action Programmes and operators. Applicants should have strong technical database skills and team or project management skills.

00Cost
The course, training materials (excluding laptop computers), internet and meals are provided free of charge for all training participants.
Travel costs (tickets, transit accommodation and subsistence) from country of origin to Bamako, Mali, as well as accommodation are to be covered by each respective organisation.
00Equipment Requirements
Participants are required to bring a working laptop that:
- Runs on either Windows 7 or 8
- Has at least a screen size of 11 inch
- Is scanned for viruses
- Has at least 5GB of free space
- Is not the IMSMA production server used in their programmes
Note also that participants must have full administrative rights on this laptop to allow installing software.
