The GICHD Arab Regional Cooperation Programme (ARCP) in partnership with the Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC), National Mine Action Centre Sudan and Handicap International (HI) is organising a Risk Education Workshop from 12 to 14 December 2017 in Khartoum, Sudan. The workshop will be held in Arabic and English and it is funded and supported by the Arab fund for Economic and Social Development, Finland and Switzerland.
The ARCP brings together National Mine Action Programmes, and other relevant stakeholders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The aim of the workshop will be to exchange best practices about risk education in both legacy and new contamination context in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The workshop will offer an opportunity for the participants to identify key issues and challenges within the risk education context nowadays but also to reinforce the key principles.
The workshop will take place over three days. It will comprise of limited lectures and presentations by the GICHD, Handicap International, country representatives, and also other organisations. The participants will have the opportunity to interact through small group working sessions.
This workshop is intended for 1 applicant from each national mine action authority (The person who will be in charge of risk education from the authority itself).
The GICHD, LMAC and the Sudanese National Programme will provide necessary administration and logistic support for all the participants.
The GICHD offers sponsorships for a maximum of 1 representative from each national mine action authority that does not have the financial means to cover their participation and if the need is justified. The GICHD will provide support in the form of air tickets and accommodation during the Conference. Participants have to undertake necessary procedures to obtain their visas. The participants are expected to arrive on 11 December and depart on 15 December 2017.
