Initiated in 2015 by the Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Regional Cooperation Programme (EECCA-RCP) aims to promote the safe and efficient implementation of mine/ERW action projects and programmes, to enhance regional co-operation through information and experience sharing, and to promote the best mine/ERW action practices throughout the EECCA region which use Russian as a communication language. The Programme also assists national authorities in building their own capacities in relevant areas by giving them access to material, training and advisory services in their own language. In addition to its regional aspect, the EECCA- RCP has a linguistic one which has proven to be increasingly important given the complex geopolitical situation in the region.
