GICHD

Non-Technical Survey Course

The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in coordination with the Directorate of Mine Action Coordination (DMAC) is  organising an NTS in Mine Action Training, that will take place from the 15th to the 26th of November in Kabul.

Since Non-Technical Survey (NTS) is the most critical step within the land release process and  poor NTS is usually overly conservative, resulting in the generation of excessively large Suspected Hazardous Areas. Therefore, this NTS training planned for Afghanistan aims to improve the quality of NTS by better understanding the role of NTS within the land release process and develop the core skills required to better conduct, manage and improve NTS operations in Afghanistan.

Quality NTS is the foundation for successful land release operations. This course is designed to equip students with the ability to identify, gather, record and verify evidence of contamination. The course will have a specific focus on conducting NTS in environments contaminated with IEDs.

The course will be in Dari.
