Information Management e-learning: Module One "Introduction to GIS for Mine Action" and Module Two "Introduction to ArcGIS Enterprise"
The GICHD is delighted to announce that the registration forms for two online e-learning modules, namely "Introduction to GIS for Mine Action" and "Introduction to ArcGIS Enterprise," are now open. These modules are specifically designed for remote completion and are made available through the generous support of the Swiss Government.
Introduction to GIS for Mine Action:
Mine action is inherently geographic, and GIS allows information managers to visualise and analyse data to help solve spatial problems and make smarter decisions. In this course, learn the fundamental components and capabilities of GIS and discover how ArcGIS can improve the quality of the information in mine action workflows.
Introduction to ArcGIS Enterprise:
Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) Core builds on ArcGIS Enterprise software to support mine action workflows. This course introduces key concepts of ArcGIS Enterprise to users of IMSMA Core. Understanding these foundational concepts will help users of IMSMA Core perform their work more effectively.
The self-paced eLearning modules contribute towards gaining fundamental knowledge based on IMSMA Core. The training language will be English.

Module 1: Introduction to GIS for Mine Action
- Understand concepts fundamental to GIS use for mine action.
- Explain how ArcGIS enables GICHD Mine action Programmes to improve the quality of information for mine action.
- Identify the GIS capabilities in mine action.
- Describe the ArcGIS System and core products.
- Link the geographic information system component for mine action use.
Module 2: Introduction to ArcGIS Enterprise
- Explain key concepts of the ArcGIS Enterprise system.
- Use the IMSMA Core portal to find, create, and share content.
- Understand the purpose of web applications and dashboards within IMSMA Core.

Duration: The 1st module will take 3h30 and the 2nd module will take 5h30.
It is an e-learning online training module that participants can follow at their own pace. Each participant will have 3 weeks to complete both modules and will get awarded a certificate if a score of at least 75% on the final test is achieved.

This e-learning course is intended for participants from National Mine Action Programmes and their Operating Partners who are or will be posted in Information Management and Operation positions within their respective organisations
Applicants for this course are welcome from all Mine Action Programmes and operators working with IMSMA. Applicants should have some technical IM knowledge.
