Regional workshop on explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) for ASEAN states
The GICHD and the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center (ARMAC) are happy to announce that they will be holding a regional explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) workshop in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, from 30th May to 2nd June 2023 for EORE practitioners working in the ASEAN region.
The language of the workshop will be English.The workshop is made possible thanks to funds from Germany and Switzerland.
Those interested in participating are welcome to apply by the deadline of 13 April 2023. All applicants are kindly requested not to proceed with any logistical arrangements before the final confirmation from the GICHD and ARMAC.

The objective of this four-day workshop is to facilitate dialogue and cooperation between EORE practitioners within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as to provide a space for informal networking and cooperation between EORE practitioners in the region.
In particular, the workshop aims to:
- Facilitate and foster an ASEAN community of EORE practitioners;
- Create opportunities for peer-to-peer support between EORE programme managers of National Mine Action Authorities (NMAAs) and other stakeholders;
- Co-design and share concrete programmatic responses to key challenges and needs identified in the region;
- Share global, regional and national EORE good practice.

The four-day workshop will be highly interactive and integrate a mix of presentations, discussions, group works and time for networking.
When enrolling onto the workshop, participants commit to completing pre-workshop tasks (Introduction to EORE Essentials e-learning), attending the full four days, contributing to group works and sharing/applying the knowledge and skills that they have acquired during the event in their place of work.

The number of participants is limited to 25. The workshop is primarily directed at existing EORE managers and field practitioners/officers from NMAA/NMACs, international NGOs, national NGOs, and other partners in ASEAN States. The GICHD and ARMAC will seek to ensure gender and diversity-balanced participation.
Individual applications for the workshop must include:
- A letter of endorsement from your organisation
- A copy of the certificate of completion of the Introduction to EORE Essentials e-learning
All applicants shall be endorsed by their organisation with a support letter from the Directors/direct manager attached to the application. Applicants will be informed on the outcome of the selection process by latest 14 April 2023.

The workshop materials (excluding laptop computers), accommodation, internet and meals (breakfast and lunch) are provided free of charge for all workshop participants from earliest Monday 29th May to latest Saturday 3rd June 2023.
Travel costs from country of origin to Sihanouk, Cambodia, has to be covered by each respective organisation. It is recommended that all participants schedule an arrival in Sihanouk no later than Monday 29th May 2023.
Limited sponsorship (return economy ticket, visa costs and a daily allowance) is available upon request. Sponsorship is not guaranteed, and requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
It is imperative that applicants wishing sponsorship get in touch with the GICHD before making any arrangements, and not later than the application deadline of 31st March 2023.
The GICHD will not cover health care expenses, or any expenses related to Covid-19, including quarantine/isolation. All participants are themselves responsible for obtaining adequate insurance (health, accident and liability) and covering any additional costs that might arise as a result of Covid-19 (such as PCR and antigen tests, hotel costs for quarantine, flight change etc).
Participants are responsible for monitoring the host country's Covid-19 rules and regulations as well as the necessary entry requirements.
