Online Quality Management Course
The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) is organising a Quality Management Training Course for Turkish Mine Action Center (TURMAC) staff.
This project is a response to the need identified by UNDP in Turkey to improve QM processes in the MA sector through the development of national capacities. The provision of the Quality Management training course will allow mine action staff engaged in operational management roles within the TURMAC to expand their knowledge and explore good practice.
The course will take place online form on 9-13 May 2022 and will be conducted in English with available Turkish interpretation.

The objective of this project is to improve knowledge, skills and attitudes of the staff within TURMAC, which will contribute to the development of national capacity and the enhancement of the QM processes.

The course entails both theoretical and practical elements, revolving around the following areas of interest:
Lesson 1 - Overview of Land Release
Lesson 2 -Introduction to Key Quality Management Principles
Lesson 3 - Understand QM terminology
Lesson 4 - Quality Planning of NTS, TS and Clearance
Lesson 5 – Quality Planning of Mechanical demining operations and QM
Lesson 5.1 Exercise Quality Planning – Tasking, clearance parameters / requirements & setting of KPIs
Lesson 5.1 Exercise Quality Planning –Development of SOPs compliant with NMAS and IMAS
Lesson 5.2 – Accreditation, testing and evaluation of MA eqpt and staff
Lesson 6 - Quality Assurance in MA for both Operators and NMAAs
Lesson 6.1 Exercise Quality Assurance – Development of internal and external QA checks and schedules
Lesson 6.1 Exercise Quality Assurance – NMAAs monitoring MA operations through QA and dealing with non-conformities.
Lesson 7 - Quality Control in MA for both Operator sand NMAAs.
Lesson 7.1 Exercise Quality Control – Development and planning of appropriate QC inspections
Lesson 7.1 Exercise Quality Control – Accepting MA products through QC inspections and dealing with non-conformities
Lesson 8 - How to instigate change in MA organisations and applying what you have learned

This training course is aimed at individuals in operational managerial roles looking to expand their knowledge and to explore best practices. The training will include a maximum of 25 participants from TURMAC, including staff from different backgrounds, such as IM and EORE.

Candidates should have a personal laptop with access to internet, Zoom, and MS Word and Excel. Individualized access to a laptop or Smartphone is essential throughout the course to ensure trainees may participate in in-course quizzes & surveys.
